Our Principles
At the Resistance Bureau , we are keen to present differing perspectives on a range of topics, but we are not neutral. We are unequivocally biased on the side of freedom.
Our team does not view individual human rights as optional add-ons that governments can choose to respect or not. Our platform exists to advance freedom, not to debate its merits. Therefore, we will only invite speakers who have established records of a commitment to these principles, including nonviolence. We will not invite individuals who have engaged in the repression of human rights or those who act as representatives of repressive governments. Doing so would be harmful to our speakers and our team, many of whom have experienced arrest, beatings, intimidation, and torture at the hands of those in power.
While our aim is to not be ‘neutral,’ we will strive to avoid political bias. Our shows may feature criticism of a ruling party, but we will never endorse an opposition group or leader, regardless of their pro-democracy merits. The choice of who to be governed by is the sole prerogative of citizens – we only hope that the choice is a free one.
Our team has a natural affinity with those who are standing against repression and authoritarianism. As long as this platform exists, we will support those who are putting their lives on the line to advance social change and build solidarity among them.
